GBlist: Re: gaskets
A product that may work for you is SOF CHINK or SOF SEAL made by NOMACO out of Zebulon, North Carolina. It's a backer rod type product made out of an open cell foam with excellent "memory". After 3 months under a desk leg in our office, it was nearly paper-thin. Came back to original size and shape in about 20 minutes after it was freed. The neat thing about it is that it has a closed cell skin, making it an effective air barrier. I'm not aware of other products with this mix of characteristics, although there may be some. It comes in diameters from about a quarter inch up to at least two inches, maybe more. I believe their web site is www.nomaco.com. If that's not right, or if you can't locate a distributor near you, contact me & I'll give you phone number. I'm not in my office today, so I don't have it.

Subject: GBlist: Sill Seals
Folks;
I've heard mention here and there of a new sill seal for standard stick
construction over concrete (neoprene, I think) which purportedly works a lot
better than the usual product. Can anybody point me towards such a product?
Also, I'm looking for gasket material to accomodate differential shrinkage
between KD stick framing and green timber. Product should span an initial
gap of 3/4" eventually compressing to 1/4" or less.
Solemn Earth Day greetings to all!
