GBlist: Low Slope Roof Insulation

We have a low slope residential roof to reroof. The specs call
for applying 2" polyisocyanurte then applying a black EPDM membrane.
(Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer, a synthetic rubber) Is there a better,
greener alternative to either the insulation or the EPDM that is widely
available and carries 10 year + warranties?

The existing roof is not rated for additional weight so earth or
other heavy systems are not possible. Adding the 2" insulation will
smooth the existing deck allowing the roof membrane to last longer as
well as supplementing the existing insulation between the rafters below.

I would prefer a lighter colored roof but the local suppliers we
use don't have EPDM in white and the client prefers black to match
existing trim on the home.

	Suggestions?
