My first thought is that metal blinds on the exterior will rust. 
Secondly, being metal they will attract heat and not retard it.  Why not
consider a wood blind finished with weather resistant finish. 

Even better aesthetically would be operable shutters with adjustable
blades. Also, perhaps you should add some window film.  Also, you might
want to look at a product called Mecho Shade.  It is an interior shade
that is used more commercially.  It lets in light but retards the UV and
glare.  Used with a window film this could solve the problem.  My only
objection to them is that they are vinylized-not very environmental
