Re: GBlist: Re: Drainwater heat recovery (DHR)

Hello Carmine.
Thank you for the comments and leads. I appreciated Glenn Chinery's
financial wranglings and plain talkin' explanation re DHR.

For your information:
I have now invented another DHR device, making two: DrainGain (pat'd,
commercial) you know about, and now WaterWatts (pat pend) which is based on
the low-cost and simplicity of your GFX but which includes integral,
no-loss thermal storage and, a construction feature that allows both
vertical and horizontal operation. Both are 'full time DHR' - they work
with all drainwater (batch and continuous) and so maximize savings.
(Double, it seems, according to Glenn).

Re code:
Triple wall separation of drainwater from fresh water ('the new' DrainGain
and WaterWatts) will ensure code passage.

Regarding performance:
DrainGain of course, can be made extremely efficient because there is no
size limitation.
WaterWatts uses the same 'falling film' concept as your GFX, but includes
extensive finning and turbulent flow to further enhance heat transfer, its
DHR performance may exceed GFX.

Cost:
Because its construction is simpler but it has a reservoir. I expect
WaterWatts to sell for about the same price as GFX, perhaps a little less
since it can be made locally avoiding transport costs.

Carmine, you have made enviable marketing headway and I commend you on your
success and for 'trailblazing' DHR.
I do sense a powerful marketing advantage for 'full time DHR'.
All three DHR designs may well be able to co-exist happily. It may even be
appropriate to combine our DHR efforts.

Regards,
Winston MacKelvie
