GBlist: Mothproofing

Does anyone have any good strategies for dealing with moths? I've had
quite a few things destroyed by moths, which has gotten me thinking
about what to do about it. Mothballs certainly help, but only for
clothes being stored, since I for one don't much like walking around
on a daily basis smelling like mothballs. I also doubt that they are
especially environmentally friendly. I know that cedar is supposed to
repel moths, so the idea of lining the closets with cedar has occurred
to me, but of course cedar is not the most environmentally responsible
choice either. Perhaps there is sustainably grown cedar that is
acceptable. I also wonder how effective that approach is though; I
can imagine that a cedar lined chest, which is relatively airtight,
would be effective but that a closet, which isn't very airtight, might
not be. Does anyone know? I also wondered if cypress, which I guess
is less exploited at the moment than cedar, has bug repellent
properties like cedar.

Any other strategies?

Julie
