i think the misperception about 12v systems is because they are commonly
used in PV-powered and wind-powered homes. people think that if they are
good enough for an earthship they are good enough for me. but of course the
real reson they are used in those situations is that they run on the 12V DC
power readily available from PV and wind systems, without the need for an
expensive inverter to make 120V power.
