A plea for environmental sensitivity from twelve Catholic Bishops ...
interesting. Heartening to anyone who cares about the environment, but looks
to me like it's just the beginning of yet another battle between Roman
Catholics and Protestant fundamentalists, this time with the earth as the
prize rather than the right to rule a few Central American countries. It
will be interesting to see if the Episcopalians and other moderate
Protestant groups join with the Catholics.

With Bush in the White House and a Republican Congress, there are a lot of
debts to be paid to Falwell/Robertson that are slated to be paid in natural
resources and environmental damage. Now there is an opposition that also
claims moral authority.

This will be an interesting development.

Bishops' Pastoral letter; "The Columbia River Watershed: Caring for Creation
and the Common Good"
has been released in English, Spanish and French.

Anyway...beautiful Web site...
