[GBlist] Forethought-Mass
I lived once in a home that had a very nice and beutiful rock wall, set back 4', inside a large glass wall. This faced South of course. The inside of this wall was covered with another, 2x4 frame, insulated wall. At night, in cool or cold condistions, a small fan blew the hot air through a sheetrock duckwork into the living space, In the summer a heavy curtain was drawn over the glass wall. It worked "slick". I didn't build or design it, sombody else gets the credit.
6yrs. ago I helped a friend remove a therm mass project from a basement-hole he had "engineered" himself. It WAS scary! It was laborius, dangerus and costly, not to mention VERY diappointing. This misguided project left my friend without a system! I'm glad to say I didn't build or design this one either. FORETHOUGHT is very important indeed. Ted
Always glad for the visit
