RE: [GBlist] OSB
------Original Message------worked over previously but ......
In choosing a sheathing OSB seems to be resource efficient in that it uses
fast growing trees and uses them efficiently. However it uses adhesives that
are, though improved, still hard on the environment and indoor air. Does
anyone know the relation of OSB to chip mills or the harvest procedure and
impact for it? Hard to find a cost effective choice for sheathing. Any new
products? boone
I helped my friend put on some very attractive concrete based siding last year. It came in 2 versions, 4x8'panels and 8" strips. It cut with standard saw blades and was easy to work with. Its fireproof, rot resistant etc.. Sorry I can't remember the name, but could find out. I agree about OSB, I watched a show on TV about new timber harvest in Canada. Loggers DO what they Do, that part hasn't changed. OSB is a better use of trees though.
Always glad for the visit
