I suspect you just happened to subscribe at one of those times when a
moderately-relevant post got carried on to hardly-relevant status, Joe, as
happens on almost any un-moderated list.  I've been subscribing to various
lists for years now, and overall I'd say that an unmoderated list is more
fun than a moderated one, occasional digressions notwithstanding.
Temporary use of a twit filter or just practicing with the delete key can
get one over the occasional humps with minimal damage.
