[GBlist] Energy-efficient streetlights

Hi Folks

I'm architect for a small-ish "sustainable" housing scheme in the UK; we
need energy efficient street-lights and I wonder if anyone -particularly in
the UK or Europe - has any experience or recommendations? The local
authority want a "conventional" (lamps on columns) arrangement but it would
be good to use lamps which give good spread with minimum "spillage", in
order to keep the number down and also reduce light pollution.

Many thanks
Phil Bixby
