As the summer heat builds here in NYC, I'm wondering if any of these green roof systems are suitable for the typical low-rise building here: a small footprint  brick building with wood joisted flat roof. I've always assumed that this type of roof cannot support the weight of a green roof. But if it could be done, wouldn't it be wonderful to simultaneously help abate the city microclimate problem and make the roof "habitable."
