[GBlist] Efficient framing

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has insight into the Natural Resource Defence
Council's guide to efficient wood framing techniques for sustainable
building practices. I am interested in resolving conflicts that crop up
with traditional framing trechniques and sustainable goals. I have
found that decreasing lumber dimensions for headers, for example, is not
acceptable to my structural engineer, who regularly specifies 12"
nominal lumber. He is adhering to the building code, of course, which
does not account for sustainabile practices.
