An alternative I've discovered is this system
http://www.metlund.com/about.htm that uses existing plumbing and electronics
to sense water temperature at point of use to shut off the recirculator, and
activation methods such as door opening, motion detection, sound/light
detection or a flow switch, any of which can be wireless remote. This
should provide even further energy and $ savings.
