[GBlist] walk off mats

It seems general wisdom that walk off mats are a good thing to extend the life of carpet and reduce IAQ problems from tracked in contaminants. Has anyone done any research on what makes a good, effective (and environmentally friendly) walk off mat and come up with any recommendations on how to specify a good one? (and who makes them?).

Thanks,

Tom
