My understanding of the "killing mechanism" of powdered boric acid on ants
& cockroaches is not necessarily a straight "poisoning" effect, but it
seems to get trapped in their respiratory trachea along their body.  It
also gets carried back to the nest and can kill the queen and her
retinue....
