Re: [GBlist] clear agboard finishes/wheatboard cabinets

As a follow-up question, I am working with a production cabinet company to produce a line of kitchen cabinets made from wheatboard. They presently are using Isobord as their source for wheatboard. I have been told by IsoBaord (now owned by Dow) that their product must be sealed to be used as kitchen cabinets so they are water proof and easy to clean. Are there other wheatboard suppliers which use water based sealers so that they can be used as finished kitchen cabinet? For the cabinet shop to be profitable they need to find a pre-finished wheatboard - any suggestions.

The cabinets are as good if not better made than Neil Kelly, yet at a cost 1/3 less. They use water based stains. The veneers are from forests which are sustainable harvested, yet they do not as yet gurantee that the forests are FSC certified. They are based in British Columbia. I am still working on them to purchase only FSC woods and veneers. If anyone is interested in learning more about the cabinets please do not hesistate to contact me.

Tanks,
