              The Brownfields Economic Redevelopment Initiative:
              Proposal Guidelines for Brownfields Assessment
              Demonstration Pilots

              EPA expects to select up to 38 additional National
assessment
              pilots by April 2002. States, political subdivisions
(including cities,
              towns, counties), and Federally recognized Indian tribes
that have
              an interest in environmentally sound redevelopment of
brownfields
              to greenspace purposes, including, but not limited to,
parks, playgrounds,
       gardens, habitat restoration, open space, and/or greenspace
preservation)
       are invited to apply. The deadline for proposals is December 10,
2001, and a
              duplicate copy sent to the appropriate U.S. EPA Regional
Office.  Applications
