[GBlist] Slate roof and UV?

Hi Folks,

I recall reading somewhere recently that slate doesn't hold up as 
well in southern lattitudes due to the effect of UV.

A quick search of the archives show that it wasn't this list.... 
anyone have any input?

A neighbor here in central Texas is proposing a slate roof.
