Re: [GBlist] Qustn: Rigid Insul above exist'g roof
Dear Frazer, I couldn't agree with you more. As budget permits we will be
taking out some of the glass and replacing it with Polygal in some places,
dual-glazed tempered in others, and solid walls in others, and some heavy
fabric for curtains inside for winter, outside for summer , something like
velvet/nylong weave or equivalent, it would be interesting to find out
whether there is a "technical velvet" out there.
As for the venting, if I sound illogical, it is because I am a little
confused where/when to vent or not; from reading the list I know that it is
important to consider. It is my thought that the newly insulated roof had to
be vented. For another interior ceiling, in the kitchen, I added 6" rigid
between joists before adding drywall to a newly deepened ceiling, and added
foam at the fascia blocking between the extended rafters, and frankly, the
room is no better in performance, which i think is due to my lack of
understanding in what needs to be vented.
Best wishes,
barbara
