[GBlist] re: SIP's
I work with Insulspan quite a bit. I am now working with my first highly
chemically sensitive client. She is exploring the possibility of having the
panels made with a non-OSB skin- one which doesn't contain formaldehyde in
any form. Currently special ply woods are being explored.
My experience has been that by "encapsulating" the skins behind finishes
such as drywall or t&g, much of the off-gassing doesn't reach the room. In a
typical home, much more formaldehyde is present in cabinet substrates and
carpet. But for someone who is highly sensitive, a much higher threshold is
required to be met. Insulspan seems ready and willing to help in any way
they can.
