[GBlist] skepticism and mcs
About skepticism and the environment:
It's definitely disheartening to see how many people jump at the chance to
use junk science to fortify their own beliefs, beliefs which are built on
nothing other than expedience and self-satisfaction. BUT, I think it is
great that these skeptics voice their opinions. It forces those of us who
believe in the self-evident causal connection between land misuse and
global change to dig down deeper into the facts--and the result is greater
understanding and more passionate commitment.
For instance, I believe that the toxins we dump into the environment is
causing some problems with my health. I react to chemicals I know of and
probably some I don't know of. But I want to find out if there exists any
factual evidence for this belief.
On that note, can anyone point me to some journal articles on this
subject--not chemical analyzes, I'm not that smart, but perhaps articles
in journals of biological science? I have a minor in biology and ecology,
so I think I can understand the info for myself at that level.
Thanks all!
