i find this type of "example of green building" very damaging to our
movement. doesn't everyone else? the bigger is better mentality pervasive
in our country pushing square footage per person up and up. it's true that
a lower surface to volume ratio has a lower heat loss factor but 14,700 SF?
i think robert agrees with his sarcastic subject line.
it's not only the desire for more square footage by americans that is
damaging the green movement, but also the desire for autonomy and luxurious
isolation - a further withdrawing from cummunity and subsequent further
demand on our building and energy resources...
we need to go smaller and simpler while retaining an aesthetically
pleasing design for i do agree that ugly, small energy efficient homes will
not fly.
