Re: [GBlist] monster houses

Whether it's architects, builders or the purchasers of monster homes, they're all just factors within a screwey economic model.  If the true environmental costs of building such homes were accounted for in the price tag, they wouldn't be getting built.

So if I were going to blame anyone, it would be the economists that speak so highly of the "wisdom of the market" while neglecting to give it all the necessary information.  So that in reality, the "wise" market is a blathering idiot charging $1.10/gallon for gasoline, etc.

Read "The Ecology of Commerce" to get a thumbnail idea of how "green taxes" could cause the market to better reflect reality.
