Do you really mean fireplace?  How about a good stove.  We're using as our
heat source the smallest made Lopi (called 'Patriot') in our 1200 sq ft
well insulated pretty tight cabin and it works perfectly.  My only
complaint is that the wood box is small, so has to be fed more often than I
would like.  The inside temps never drop below 58 at night, even on the
coldest windiest nights even though I never bother to stock up the stove
before I go to bed.  Bottom line, build tight and insulate well and a
little stove is all you need.  I sure wouldn't have a fireplace (this one
has a nice glass door).   Sacie Lambertson
