I really do mean fireplace, because of where the thing would have to be
put.  Yes, a stove will radiate considerably more heat in a conventional
situation, but I persist in thinking that a well-designed glass-enclosed
fireplace with a long pipe run will provide almost as much heat.  A small
stove just wouldn't be "right" (very subject term, of course) in this
situation, though I may wind up having to use that option.

Of course, I could find a foundry and a custom maker of glass fireplace
doors. . . .
