Re: [GBlist] Greenbuilding in NC

This is a project I worked on (from a rather narrow Solid Waste Mgmt perspective) with a variety of other task force members who were primarily architects and designers. The document contains a list of all the folks who worked on it and they would be a good starting list of "who's who" in green design in the triangle area.

professionals practicing "greenbuilding" or "green design" in the
Raleigh/Durham/Research Triangle area of North Carolina?

Thanks so much!

Subject: [GBlist] vendor and contractor participation at sustainability
workshop in asheville, nc

the university of north carolina at asheville is aggressively pursuing
sustainability issues. we are currently in the design phase (consultants
already hired) of a new facilities management building project, and we will
have a sustainability workshop on january the 10th, 2002.

concurrently, we are interested in having a "mini" trade show with vendors
plying all their sustainable wares during this workshop. while the intent of
this "trade show" and workshop is specifically for the new facilities
management building, there is over $80 million in construction planned over
the next five years.

If you are located near asheville, we would love to have you at our
workshop. (future community oriented workshops are planned). we are
interested in ALL facets of sustainability (we are using LEED as our
guideline). SOME areas of interest are listed below, but this list is not
intended to encompass all facets of our interest:

vegitative roofs, deconstruction, construction recycling, recycling,
electric/natural gas/LP vehicles/mowers/buggies, photovoltaics, radiant
heating/cooling, raised floor/vertical air displacement systems, fuel cells,
passive and active solar, catchment systems, storm water run off management,
elevators, all facets of water efficiency, geothermal heat pumps, all types
of materials - whether construction, finish, or equipment/furniture, carpet,
rapidly renewable materials, stained concrete, SIPs, heat mirror windows,
natural ventilation, energy efficient lighting of all types,
daylighting.....

you may express your intereste to lisa belcher (lbelcher@unca.edu) at the
University of North Carolina at Asheville's Office Management and
Construction
