RE: [GBlist] house thoughts
If it has not already been mentioned, more information on Ecological
Footprint is available in the book:
Our Ecological Footprint
Reducing human impact on the earth
A book by:
Mathis Wackernagel & William Rees
See the link: http://www.ire.ubc.ca/ecoresearch/ftprbook.html
I ordered the book from I think either from the site or from Borders.
Either way presents an interesting case on how much of the earth each human
needs to sustain themselves. Whether one agrees with the exact calculation
or not, the point is valid that we in North America have outstripped the
earth's ability to provide for us over the long hall and need to change our
ways. Obviously most of us understand that.
We are all (on this list) trying to figure out what we are going to do about
it. There are multiple paths.
Cheers,
Ralph Bicknese

Subject: Re: [GBlist] house thoughts
-the average Canadian uses a 20 acre ecological footprint-20 football fields
-the average American uses 33% more
-the average Italian uses 20% less
Nature provides an average of 5 acres
we are living beyond our means and technology alone will not correct the
imbalance.
for info on ecological footprint see
