I too would like to be able to do a global search of the archives.  I would
like to be able to key in a couple pertinent words and get a dated
responses, regardless of how old these are.  Two often folks on this list
say they've tried to find something on the archives but can't, but those of
us who've subscribed for a long while know we've talked about that subject
before.  I end up making my own archives of responses to general items
about which I'm interested.  (eg Water Heaters: tankless, heatpump; Whole
House Controls; Water Storage: Stoves: wood burning, masonry; Appliances
etc.)  For some broad subjects, Green Building could do the same thing.  It
would then be possible to go to the archives, look through a couple dozen
subjects and hit one to get all the information that has come through on
it.  With the alternative being an option--ie key in the words too.  There
are enough questions that come back again to easily engender such a list.  
	I would not place any of the sometimes long discussions having little to
do with Greenbuilding in the archives; those who initiate this list can be
the judge of those.  In general I would take not place silliness in the
archives.
	As a matter of courtesy I concur with the suggestion that subscribers not
repeat the entire message to which they are responding.  Indeed, the
subject heading should be all that is necessary (or at the most, if it
isn't obvious, just a snippet of the pertinent part of the message that is
relevant to the response).
