I agree with Mike's caveat re the vapor barrier.  Here in Florida,
particularly when I was working in S. Florida, we had many, many cases of
mold infestation due to northern builders coming in and building using
interior vapor  barriers.  This was partucularly true of corporations
whose B&D depts were based outside the state.

By the same token, we found that applying vinyl coated wallcoverings
often acted as interior vapor barriers, with similar disasterous results.
 This was particularly true because the molds find the adhesive very
tasty.

It is best to understand your climate before building.  One size does not
fit all.
