[GBlist] Durisol construction
We are considering use of Durisol (pre-cast concrete-wood fiber blocks)
for residential construction applications in Northern California. The
manufacturer claims high earthquake and termite resistance. They also
claim high resistance to mold or interior moisture problems, in spite of
not using any vapor barriers, in conjunction with exterior stucco and
interior plaster or drywall attached directly to the Durisol blocks.
Does anybody have experience with this system for residential
applications—it does have some ease of construction and thermal/green
building advantages, but the client is really concerned about IAQ (water
intrusion, mold, odor) problems, earthquake resistance, etc.
Any experience/info would be appreciated!
