Well, there's one guy, with pretty good credentials, who's written a book
arguing that oil doesn't come from fossil sources at all, but is
continually being formed and coming "within reach".  

Sorry I can't remember the name of the book offhand nor the author, but if
you approach a moribund condition because of that, I'll try to look it up.
