[GBlist] thermal wall spacer

Does anyone have an idea for a material that could be used as a thermal
spacer between wall studs and strapping that is at least 1/2" thick? It
would have to be able to resist compression when the strapping is nailed to
the wall studs. I've tried Cladmate but it compresses with hand nailing. It
may not compress with an air gun however...

I want to use the spacer to increase the depth of a dry cellulose wall
cavity to increase it's r-value. 2x6's + 1/2" spacer + 3/4" = 6.75 x
3.8r/inch = 25.65
