[GBlist] Re:[GBlist] Sherwin Williams paint question
Sherwin Williams is not the only maker of low-odor paints. I have had great
success with ICI Dulux Lifemaster 2000, gotten some wonderful colors too.
Benjamin Moore has a low-VOC paint, too. I even found a Dutch-Boy variety
at Home Depot once, called Kids' Room. While low- to zero-VOC, these paints
all still contain some chemicals that the chemically sensitive may not like,
and some that may not be very good for anyone.
AFM Safecoat is routinely mentioned on this list but Best Paint is also a
brand we prefer to use.

Subject: [GBlist] Re:[GBlist] Sherwin Williams paint question
Hi,
I was told something similar, that they could not use the word
"health" in the name of the paint for some regulatory/legal reason,
and that Harmony is a new and improved version of HealthSpec. Though
I am not sure it is "improved" see below.
I found that out about six months ago, when when it was time to paint
the house. HealthSpec was not available at any of the local stores,
and Harmony was not yet available. This delayed my entire remodeling
project. Also, Harmony is not available in "extra white" which ruled
out the paint scheme we wanted to use (very light, bright pastels)
the only "white" (I never realized that there are so many "whites"
till now...) available in Harmony is a dingy grayish looking white,
that cannot be made into the bright/light pastels (I forgot the
exact names that SW use to refer to the whites and bright colors...)
One thing about Harmony (I do not know about HealthSpec) it peels off
the walls very easily. for example when we masked the paint (about
two weeks after applying it) using blue tape the paint peeled with
the tape. also, if you bump/scratch the paint, it will come off the
wall. moreover it seem to create a tough film, and when it starts
peeling off the wall a large chunk peels off... The painter did not
like it at all. He said that this is the worst paint he's ever
used....

Hello Everyone!
I went to my local Sherwin Williams store today and to my surprise
they had a 50% off of all
HealthSpec paints! I asked them why. They said they are discontinuing
it. The salesperson there
dd not know if it was just a store discontinuation, a regional one or
national etc. They now manufacture a
"low odor" paint called "Harmony". He believes it is in place of
HealthSpec. He said the HealthSpec "was just not selling". Anyone
have any info on this??? Please respond to me at
dlombard@earthlink.net.
By the way, I am working on revising my website:

I wish to include photos of residential and commercial projects.
Please contact me privately
should you have a photo that you would like to have on my website. I
will be looking for website
sponsors soon too. Thank you.
