[GBlist] sealing glass in a greenhouse

Hi all,

I looked today at a greenhouse a friend of mine is building and there
was a detail that worried me that I hoped you all might have some
advice on. The south side will be all glass. At the moment it is
framed and the glass is not installed. The framing is with 6x8 (or
so) green posts. He has boxed these in in various ways to reduce
twisting over time. He is planning on setting the glass right
against the timber, sealing with caulk, and holding them in place by
having them sandwiched between the timber and some 2x4s screwed to the
timber. He recognizes that this will involve some maintenance over
time, with caulk falure and timber movement. I just worry thatthe
seal will fail and that damage will occur before it's noticed.

Does anyone have any ideas on ways to make this a little more
leak-proof?

Thanks,

Julie
