RE: [GBlist] Alternative Batt Insulation
Cotton Batts are available from the Environmental Home Center in Seattle and
from their online store Built-E, http://www.built-e.com
Is it necessary to use batt insulation? Wet or dry-blown cellulose has 100%
recycled content and performs better than batts by not leaving voids. The
wet-blown is especially good at filling nooks and crannies, and won't
settle. A national brand is Louisiana Pacific's Cocoon cellulose product-
there should be an installer near you. http://www.cocooninsulation.com/
A less favorable but more conventional alternative is Dow Corning's Miraflex
batts. They don't use formaldehyde binders and are encapsulated.
Regards,
Kristian

Subject: [GBlist] Alternative Batt Insulation
Does anyone have any suggestions on alternative batt insulation that is
readily available? We are finding resisitance with some contractors
because they are unable to purchase this at the local building supply
store. Any ideas?
Thanks
