[GBlist] Solar Hot Water Heating - Slab on Grade
Dear Troy
Probably not available to you in Canada but for your info CLIPSOL is a
company in the south of France that specialize in solar assisted floor
heating system (plancher solaire directe). Basically its a large area of
roof integrated flat plate collectors, with a backup boiler, calorifier
(hot water store with heat exchangers), and a radiant concrete slab on
ground with embedded tubing. There web site is
http://www.clipsol.com/navig/framer-produits-prod-psd.html .
Most of the other European manufacturers offer similar options. We have
subsidies from the French government energy agency ADEME to encourage the
use of such systems.
The % of solar contribution depends on the climate, integration and sizing
of the components.
PS with a well insulated house, good windows, hrv, etc you shouldnt need
much of a heating system or any heating system at all see
http://www.cepheus.de/eng/
and some examples from Austria http://www.energieinstitut.at/cepheus.html
then click on "Zu den österreichischen CEPHEUS-Projekten... "
