[GBlist] child friendly communities
hello- just want to add my two cents about child
safety and safety in general. first of all, none of us
is completely safe. anyone paying any attention to
events here in our country and around the world can
easily see countless threats to our health and
wellbeing (floods, viruses, wars, abductions, etc.) it
is time to stop talking about how cool and destructive
our childhoods were, and time to give back to future
generations by teaching the children not to pour
gasoline on each other and light ourselves on fire.
having said that, i must also add that perhaps the
most important thing that i wish to teach my children
is just how precious and short one person's life
really is, and not to let the idea of safety lull us
into complacency. when one considers how close we are
to completely destroying our entire planet, how safe
can the children be? what difference are we making?
"what will you do with your one wild and precious
life?" -pablo neruda
