There's also an MDF being made from bagasse, which is the remaining stalk
from sugar cane after they get out the sugar.  They use formaldehyde-free
it's rated as an MDF, not a particleboard.

Huber Blue engineered wood panels contain phenolic resin for binding. Tests
by U.S. Forest Products Laboratory and Oak Ridge National Laboratory have
found formaldehyde emissions from panels bonded with phenolic resin to be
nonexistent or negligible. The Federal Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD) has exempted wood panel products bonded with phenolic
adhesives from all formaldehyde testing requirements.
