Re: [GBlist] Destiny USA - Green Building - A sham and a half

Hey Ben:

I'm the first to agree with you - there is too much green marketing going on
that is bogus - but and I'm not sure if you've looked at their website - it
has the following as they say affiliates or partners -

Related Links

The following links are affiliates or partners of the DestiNY USA Green
initiative:

http://www.rmi.org/ - Rocky Mountain Institute
http://www.dec.state.ny.us/ - N.Y.S. Dept. of Environmental Conservation
http://www.usgbc.org/ - U.S. Green Building Council
http://www.nrdc.org/ - National Resource Defense Council
http://www.nyserda.org/ - N.Y.S. Energy Research & Development Authority
http://www.batteryparkcity.org/ - Battery Park City Authority
http://www.nyieq.com/ - N.Y.S. Indoor Environmental Quality Center
http://www.epa.gov/ - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

If they can make this work - then I'm all for it and the reason being - it
will demonstrate to the Corporate community that projects like this can be
done without the fuel, waste and issues that we all complain about on this
list. As the RMI, Hawken and all have said - we can't stop growing as a
planet - we just have to figure a way to do it naturally - and if DestiNY
USA can do it - then now Ford, GM, and every other Fortune 500 - 1000
company has NO excuse in doing it because now this company has set a new and
higher standard for them - it will be a Shame Ford for not developing a
production plant that is 100% sustainable AND profitable.

But if DestiNY USA doesn't do it but still CLAIMS it - then it is our job to
make sure the public knows its a fraud and that it is just another example
of Green Marketing that has destroyed the very concept of sustainability.
So I would suggest we help them to make it possible versus plague them with
doubters and hope they fail. This is going to happen - whether we like it
or not - let's make sure it is 100% green and nothing short.

Just a thought.

Troy Glasner
