[GBlist] use of borax or boric acid on lumber

i have heard boric acid is good for treating lumber to prevent carpenter
beetle invasion (primarily for soffet and fascia). we have had this done,
but had to be applied by a company with an insecticide license. is there a
product that does not require such stringent application rules?

thanks in advance
