[GBlist] facts about building and the environment

Does anyone have a good reference for 5 good points for building green (especially regarding housing)??
ie.  Buildings consume more than xxxxxx of all the energy use in N.Amer.
tpical new home contains xxxxx number of nasty chemicals.
xxxxxx acres are cut unsustainably, and xxx tones of co2 produced for building products.
    Sprawling urban growth is xxxxxxxxx.

Something like this, I've started to put something together something from my own research, but I always end up being too technical.
I am trying to put together 5 good points to convince the average (intelligent) person that building green is an obviously great idea.

Thanks,

Christopher Holmes
