[GBlist] greywater

I have been collecting waste water from showers in my shower/tub for use in
washing down my concrete dog runs and to water distressed plants. I reasoned
that this water would wind up as ground water anyway via the septic system.

Before using it, however, I got to thinking that if it went down the drain,
it would sit in the septic tank for a while before filtering out to the
septic field. So the question is: how fast do those "biodegradeable" soaps
we're washing in break down? Is it OK to use waste water right away to wash
down outside surfaces or water dying shrubs?
