See if one of the neighbors is (gasp) a lawyer. If the signs are prominent, posted often, etc it seems that indeed the city would be protected. The law that applies to 'no trespassing' signs should apply to hazard notices as well. I'd check the law more carefully.before allowing the city to say they aren't protected. More cost effective for the city to post a few more signs maybe??
