This is probably not politically correct, but have you considered predators?
You have created an ecosystem that would support an animal higher on the
food chain. What about snakes? They like holes and baby squirrels I
imagine. Sorry if that gets people in a tizzy. I know that squirrels have
fur and therefore are cute, but snakes gotta make a living too!
Too bad people can't live with animals like coyotes and bobcats.
