[GBlist] Cordwood masonry & carpentry work trade opportunity in The Bahamas
Hello folks,
The Island School in south Eleuthera, Bahamas is seeking the help of 2-4
green builders with some experience in carpentry, masonry and general
construction.
We are looking for people who have 2-3 weeks and would like to help finish a
cordwood masonry and timber-framed workshop which serves as a model of local
materials use and climatic design.
Other projects include installing the living roof on this structure,
building doors and built-ins with locally-milled mahogany, and designing and
constructing the roof-top drip irrigation system.
There is also potential for work with PV installations, solar hot water,
biodiesel, permaculture implementation, polyculture and many other
sustainable development projects that are ongoing on our campus.
The position starts immediately.
Apprentice needs to provide their own transportation here, but once on
island we will provide everything needed, from meals to pleasant housing to
involvement in many Island School activities.
This short position is also a great way to get to know folks here and to
potentially develop future work opportunities as well as to network with
people in green development and ecological education from many regions.
Please visit www.islandschool.org for more info on our organization and
email me (Ben Falk) for info on this short apprenticeship.
Cheers,
Ben
