[GBlist] SBIC Green Building Guide <FLASH>
SBIC Green Building Guide <FLASH>
Sept 23, 2002
At the just concluded Affordable Comfort (AC) 2003 planning retreat, consensus was reached by the working group to expand the (former) "Sustainability" track into a full track (tent.) titled "Building Greener." This means 8 to 9 sessions will be included in next years conference program, complementing what is emerging as one of the most innovative conferences, packed with myriad new stuff and many new presenters (keeps things more vital...).
Presentations under consideration include information on:
* Sustainable Cities and Practices (design)
* Green Farmsteads
* Guidelines being rolled out
* What's happening with LEED residential efforts
* Case studies on production builder green homes, and green utility programs
As part of this updated and expanded track, the Consumers/Education/Sustainability working group recommended inviting the Sustainable Buildings Industries Council (SBIC) to provide a 100 minute workshop on the _ Green Building Guide _ within the core conference. The presenter(s) is yet to be determined but may include: Bion Howard, Judy Fosdick (an award winning green builder in Colorado, or others now being inducted into the SBIC training process)
_______________
Note: the entire AC2003 program is now being referred to an advisory panel for comment and amendment.
Please obtain the latest information and sign-up details on AC2003 by checking out:<http://www.affordablecomfort.org>. Also, don't forget the early-bird deals, and the growing cadre of regional Affordable events going on this year. The location in Kansas City will also provide some unique social activities and tours, being prepared by a dynamic local advisory committee.
Remember, "Affordable" is NOT another green building conference. It IS a dynamic educational happening covering the entire universe of what the National experts in the field consider advanced holistic-thinking, practices, policies, programs and technologies in the _residential_ remodeling, weatherization and new-construction field. In my humble opinion -- along with EEBA -- the AC Conferences are =the= best high performance building/rehab/"WX" conference programs out there. Some of the content just is not replicated anywhere else.
Yours truly,
Bion Howard
