RE: [GBlist] What type of cistern <rainwater?>

John,

My training is geared all toward third world development, so I don't always know what the higher tech options are, and know about nothing when it comes to USA building codes.

We were taught to make ferral cement tanks for rainwater run off, and also looked at using large clay pots, since sometimes those are locally avilable, and can be very attractive. One of the people in our group had a friend who was a potter, and had made them some stunning huge pots that they used. They were heartbroken when they had to leave them behind. I think these things could work well for greywater collection.

We also learned how to make a village scale filtration system with a tank, plus various sized rocks and sand.

Good Luck,

Kiley
