RE: [GBlist] Raw sheep wool insulation

Wool is inherently flame retardant. That may be a plus.

Subject: [GBlist] Raw sheep wool insulation

I've got a bunch of raw (unwashed) fleeces that I'd like to use for
insulation in random places in my SB house that are not amenable to
modified bales or stuffed straw flakes. I've been told that the lanolin
acts as a natural insect repeller (for how long?). I plan to mix in
boric
acid powder (aka "roach powder") as an extra protection.

Any advice or cautions? Is there a better way to apply the powder than
my
current method of "shake & bake" in a cardboard box? I'm a bit concerned

about settlement over time.

thanks
