When I did my roof, I worried about meltwater sneaking under the
insulation and carrying the heat away. So, in addition to the very
tough bituthene membrane under the insulation, on top of the
insulation I laid down a sheet of poly, and then the earthen layer.
I figured that even with the inevitable pinholes in the poly, there
would be very little water getting under the insulation.

Recently, I was asked if I was going to fire an employee who made a
mistake that cost the company $600,000. No, I replied, I just spent
$600,000 training him. Why would I want somebody to hire his
experience? -Thomas J. Watson, industrialist (1874-1956)
